Upon receipt of the complete application packet, applicants will be mailed an audition date and location. Please prepare for your audition according to the art area audition and portfolio requirements below and on the following page. Audition dates and times will be assigned and mailed to applicants. Auditions will be scheduled between January 2-5, 2013 for rising 6th Graders and ______________ [date TBD] for rising 7th—12th Graders.

Students have only one opportunity to audition. A doctor‘s note is required to schedule a make-up audition. Portfolios are due at the time of audition and should not be sent in with the application. A group of professionals in each art area will evaluate students and place them in one of five categories based on their application, talent and potential. These categories are: Exemplary, Strong, Acceptable, Some and Minimal. Students categorized, as Exemplary or Strong will be accepted before students categorized as Acceptable. Students categorized as Some or Minimal will not be accepted. Generally, students are notified by mail of audition results. Students are notified that they 1) passed the audition and are accepted; 2) passed the audition but the class is full and are placed on the waiting list; or 3) did not pass the audition. Due to the number of applications which are processed, the school is unable to give individual explanations to students who do not pass the audition.

Students may apply in two separate art areas. However, should a student pass the auditions for both areas, he or she will be placed where there is an opening. If the applicant has a strong preference for a particular art area, it is recommended that the student apply only in one art area.
